Coachella Music Festival » 3 Days FULL Days

Cross-colors may not be remembered as one of the best ideas in fashion history, but cross-genre collaborations in music have proven über poplar (and profitable) in this past few years. Which is why it's no surprise that the usually alt-rock-leaning (with some pop thrown in) Coachella Music Festival has what many may consider the most assorted mix of sounds (of the past 5 decades!) for this year's lineup.

Perhaps the biggest surprise (or not for the aforementioned reason) is Mr. Collaborating King himself, Jay-Z. Also, on the weekend's itinerary are Grace Jones, Wale, De La Soul, B.o.B.... with Sly and the Family Stone and (my fav) Corinne Bailey Rae inserting some soul into the mix. Poet/musician/legend Gil Scott-Heron continues his comeback-to-the-stage tour (2 years in counting)...and Devo (of '80s “Whip It” fame) is...well...I really have nothing to say about them (complete list here).

And if you're thinking (after a year like 2009), Never has getting away sounded so appealing, then you are not alone. So if you can wrap your head around three days in the desert (think camping...with tens of thousands of half-dressed music-lovers - s'mores optional), then you can leave the dispiriting, Monday morning water cooler chat to the rest of the office droids. You've got memories to replay...and probably a killer hangover to get over, anyway.
